These Kind Of Blues
Blues Band
The Blues Band was formed by Manfred Mann lead singer/harp player Paul Jones and fellow bandmate, guitarist Tom McGuinness. The original line-up included bassist Gary Fletcher, slide-guitarist Dave Kelly (who'd previously played with the John Dummer Band, Howlin' Wolf and John Lee Hooker), and drummer Hughie Flint, of John Mayall's Blues Breakers and McGuinness Flint, the outfit he formed with Tom McGuinness. When Flint left in 1982, he was replaced by Family's Rob Townsend.
Acknowledged throughout Europe and beyond as one of the finest exponents of authentic rhythm & blues, the Blues Band continue to cut the mustard, writing and playing with passion and conviction to appreciative cross-generational audiences wherever they go.
First released in 1986, 'These Kind Of Blues' includes the standards 'Smokestack Lightning', 'Bad Penny Blues' and 'Tobacco Road' alongside original material penned by the band. Drummer Charlie Watts and saxophonist Plas Johnson also guest. CD edition includes three bonus tracks.
