Stepping Out
Blues Band
The Blues Band was formed by Manfred Mann lead singer/harp player Paul Jones and fellow bandmate, guitarist Tom McGuinness. The original line-up included bassist Gary Fletcher, slide-guitarist Dave Kelly (who'd previously played with the John Dummer Band, Howlin' Wolf and John Lee Hooker), and drummer Hughie Flint, of John Mayall's Blues Breakers and McGuinness Flint, the outfit he formed with Tom McGuinness. When Flint left in 1982, he was replaced by Family's Rob Townsend.
Acknowledged throughout Europe and beyond as one of the finest exponents of authentic rhythm & blues, the Blues Band continue to cut the mustard, writing and playing with passion and conviction to appreciative cross-generational audiences wherever they go.
Comprising of almost entirely original material, the band nail their blues credentials to the mast on 'Stepping Out', including 'I'll Be Home Again Tonight', the anthemic 'I Am The Blues' and 'These Shoes'. A revamp of the ever-popular 'Resting On Jesus' concludes the set. Trad jazz supremo Chris Barber guests on trombone.
