The Tears of David

King David is perhaps one of the most inspired and interesting men of the Bible. Yes, he was a warrior. But he was also a musician. A writer contributing several lengthy sections of the old Testament, Psalms and Songs. He was a military leader and strategist. He was an adulterer, having an illicit affair with Bathsheba, the wife of Urite, the Hittite. King David was also in the lineage of Jesus Christ. Lengthy books of fact have been written about each of these. Books that I am not going to try to duplicate. For this is a historical novel. A blending of fact and fiction. For there are areas of King David'slife that have not really been fully explored. Little is known of his dedication of the Temple Mount to the Lord. Yet it is hard to imagine that such a service did not occur. Little is know of one of the largest battles of ancient Israel, a battle that over 400,000 men took part in, that took place while David was King of Israel. Little is known of the men that served under and lived with King David at the time. Many of these were his brothers and his 500that both deserted King Saul's Army and fled into the desert with him to avoid King Saul. In these, a historical novelette can shed light and bring us to a new understanding of the man that was 'after God's own heart'. When combined with its sister novelette, The Cross of a Munifex, we also have a look into the lives of young soldiers of these times. Soldiers that are surrounded by unfolding events that they don't fully grasp and understand. But are trying with integrity, honor and even courage to do so. In this, both novelettes were written for the men and women of the United States military post 911, that did not have the same experiences as these. But served the country with integrity, honor and courage.
