Giraldus Cambrensis
Despite a frustrated ecclesiastical career, Giraldus Cambrensis (Gerald of Wales, c.1146–1220/23) composed many literary works, including in volume 4 a life of Geoffrey Plantagenet (1151–1212), Archbishop of York, describing the Angevin court's intrigues. The Latin text, with an editorial preface in English, was published in the Rolls Series in 1873.
