Limited Edition Import only 21-track double-disc collection on Stax! Even though Ike's one of the greats of soul music, he has, with the exception of 'Theme from Shaft", never really had any hits. Rather, Ike's a typical album artist. The limited-size format of a single is simply too small for the someone who makes music that is XL, hence this double-disc collection. The ambition of the label was for all the songs to be in their original length, but despite this collection being over 140 minutes in playing time, a few shortened single version inevitably had to included. The material comes comes from Ike's long tenure at Stax, his most successful and creative period. Highlights include, 'Ike's Mood / You've Lost that Lovin' Feelin' (15+ minutes) which is one of the most spectacular orchestrations ever made. When Ike strectches the Righteous Brothers classic into XL format it becomes symphonic soul in the best meaning of the word. 'The Look of Love' (11+ minutes) Jay-Z, LL Cool J and Snoop Dogg have sampled the track to great acclaim, 'Feel Like Makin' Love (13+ minutes) and many more. Stax.
