Whilst there are many places considered bastions of jazz, in particular New Orleans and Kansas City, it is doubtful that many would consider Sweden in general or Stockholm in particular as one of them. Yet thanks to the efforts of Monica Zetterlund, jazz became a very important part of the musical movement of Sweden during the 1960s. It was not only in Sweden that Monica was revered either, for word of her abilities crossed the Atlantic and she was invited to work and record with the likes of Bill Evans, Louis Armstrong, Quincy Jones and Stan Getz, among countless others. This album, originally released in 1962, features Monica performing with the Georg Riedel Orchestra on a series of numbers based on the great American songbook with Swedish translations by Beppe Wolgers.
