Platti / Gugliemi
Würzburg will surely have a little-known musical highlight next to the famous residence and it's been painted by Tiepolo staircase by Balthasar Neumann. Here worked with Giovanni Benedetto Platti (ca. 1697-1763) since 1723 an important pioneer of the fortepiano in Germany. Still in Italy, he had the inventor of this new instrument, Bartolomeo Cristofori met, and also the Würzburg prince bishops apparently showed a keen interest in it. Thus platti one of the first composers in Germany, who have also written especially for this instrument. His late sonatas harpsichord already have classic style elements, which he is also one of the pioneers of the classical style in Germany. Luca Guglielmi has recorded them for Accent and sets his highly acclaimed recording project of Italian keyboard music continued.
