The funky keyboard wizard Larry "Moogstar" Clemon acquired his nickname playing synthesizers for several funk and R&B bands, including two of the most influential bands in funk history, the Zapp Band and Cameo. A keyboard prodigy, Larry Clemon came from a family with a musical pedigree - his uncle Teddy Clemon was Prince's keyboardist for many years. While working with Roger Troutman of the Zapp Band, Moogstar helped design a wireless vocoder to make it possible for Roger to walk into the crowd while performing. The death of Roger and his brother Larry in a bizarre murder/suicide in 1999, was particularly devastating to Moogstar, who found a great outlet for his grief in music. A year later he wrote several songs for Cameo's critically acclaimed "Sexy Sweet Thing" album and began a musical collaboration with the legendary Swamp Dogg that exists to the present day. Moogstar has had a hand in Swamp Dogg's independent productions for the last several years and has proved to be a supremely talented keyboardist, producer, engineer, and singer-songwriter in his own right, making himself invaluable in the recording process. On the full-length album "You're My Inspiration," originally privately released in 2015, Moogstar lays down the hip-hop inspired funk and once again showcases his exceptional talent as a brilliant arranger and inspired performer - with guest appearances by Swamp Dogg, Guitar Shorty, Charles Hayes, Brenda Kaye Pierce and MC Wee-G. The album has been newly remixed and remastered for wider release.
