A much in demand session and road-tour percussionist, Englishman Ray Cooper has become known as one of the greatest rock percussionists of all time, working with several musically diverse bands including Eric Clapton, Billy Joel, George Harrison, Elton John and the Rolling Stones. He has also worked in films and has produced music for several productions by director Terry Gilliam of Monty Python fame. Presented here is a rare solo album Ray recorded in the late 1970's, "Everybody's Cup of Tea," featuring jazzy, percussion heavy arrangements of classic jazz tunes including Duke Ellington's "Caravan" and Glenn Miller's "Moonlight Serenade," as well a few English pop tunes including "Winchester Cathedral." the band Ray selected for the recording includes Vic Flick (guitar, ukelele); Gerry Butler (piano, Fender Rhodes); Alan Weighell (bass); Derek Kieran (piano, mellotron, alto sax, tenor sax, clarinet, flute, chimes, arp omni); Cliff Bryant (arp 2600); Hank Quinn (congas); Val Johnson (trombone, bass trumpet); Ray Cooper (tympani, chimes, bass drum, high hat, pop gun, siren, board, vocals) and Alfie Styman (vocal effects). All selections newly remastered.
