In 2023, R.E.M.'s 11th studio album, UP, will celebrate its 25th anniversary. To mark the occasion, the album has been newly remastered.

This deluxe 2CD edition includes the remastered album and a never-before-released 11-track live performance from the band's '99 taping for the TV series Party of Five. The 2CD edition also includes an exclusive 24" x 24" pull-out poster and four collectible postcards, as well as a booklet featuring new liner notes with reflections from the band.

"Up" marked a distinct shift in R.E.M.'s musical style, incorporating more electronic elements and experimental sounds compared to their previous albums. This was partly influenced by the departure of drummer Bill Berry in 1997, which led the remaining members to explore new musical territories. The album features the singles "Lotus," "Suspicion", "At My Most Beautiful," and standout track "Daysleeper", which was the lead single.
