Firmly rooted in New York’s sweaty boogie dreams and with a soft spot for dazzling house music, “In The End” stays true to Tensnakes’ juicy techniques and pleases our friends and colleagues (Radio Slave, Robet Dietz, Prins Thomas, Gilb’r, Mark E) alike. We start off with a courageous house tune that has all the qualities of an a-side and concisely defines the dilemma of lovers: in the end someone always has to cry. But as long as it sounds like a Cutty Ranks’ rocket launcher, we waan’t test it. The other side of the medal features “Holding Back My Love” a slow-motion disco robot bomb with a crooning Tensnake on the mic that makes everyone feel happy like they should. Finally, “TheThenUnknown” somehow melts the moodiness of early Factory records (think A Certain Ratio with a little finger exercise) with the atmosphere of Kenneth Dixon Jr.’s “Misled” - one for the heart, soul and your headphones.
