Vaudeville Blues 1919-41
Vaudeville Blues 1919-41
Vaudeville dominated the national entertainment scene until radio kept everybody tuned in at home. In those heady days of live entertainment (primarily the late teens and early 1920s), the blues began to take form. And contrary to the image we have of blues singers today, back then they were mostly female and remarkably self-assured. This collection focuses 4 CDs on those classic vaudevillians and their songs that ranged from morality tales to the sexually lurid and provocative.
