Go Go Berlin
With the album The Ocean (2019), Go Go Berlin marked their transformation as a band. With Covid-19, the experimental ep LYFE (2020) was released.
Now lands Expectations, a presentation of a new level and chapter for the band. In the decade leading up to their creation, Go Go Berlin is releasing an effervescent and well-produced album in which they live up to expectations of them as musicians and as a band. The music is created from the band's recognizable songwriter DNA, and the productions therefore carry their very special nerve. Expectations exude the energy of the band's time as frontrunners in Danish rock, combined with a vibe of electronic pop.
The themes of Expectations lie in the titles; tracks like "Call It Karma", "Better Off Alone" and the already released single precursor "Careless" describe various dilemmas and situations where expectation and reality do not match. Christian says: Expectations are the worst you can have - because then you can only be disappointed. The word ‘expectations’ has been a word that has filled much of the years we have been a band. What expectations have we had for the band? To each other? To success? For love? To life? For the future? And which expectations for Go Go Berlin, or yourself, are most important? Your own or others'?
With Covid-19, the three members Christian, Christoffer and Anders have had the opportunity to redefine themselves and align expectations with each other and with Go Go Berlin:
Go Go Berlin has moved from being an identity, up through the 20s, where we toured 120-130 concerts a year. But it's starting to be some other values and stories that fill one's life - especially because it's been these crazy years where we have not been able to tour and be stage people. So now it is a free space from something else, Christian explains.
According to Christoffer, their project is a friendship they must cherish:
Go Go Berlin is a community and a brotherhood. It's a kind of family. Now there are three of us. And it is important that everyone is involved. It's about what's fun and what feels right, Anders adds.
