Thelonious Monk Quartet
Monk recorded 'Misterioso' live at the Five Spot Café on the Bowery in Manhattan on 7 August 1958, during the same sessions that produced 'Thelonious in Action'. The Five Spot, one of New York's most famous jazz venues, was the place where Monk first stepped into the limelight. He was accompanied by tenor saxophonist Johnny Griffin, drummer Roy Haynes and bassist Ahmed Abdul-Malik. They recorded two memorable albums of classic Monk repertoire (this is the second).
