No Fear Required
Martin Herzberg
Five years after the release of his first solo album, Martin Herzberg returns with another instrumental journey providing the score for our own individual motion pictures in life. The album "No Fear Required" begins where "Silent Mirror Inside" ended, but it's more than just a simple sequel. Four unique singers, Yvonne Enrique, Ulrike Knorr, Franziska Danneberg and Jana Tarasenko, gave their voice to five of the most outstanding track on the album. Now, the variety of the sound is wider but still within the typical deep and melancholic spectrum we are already familiar with. "No Fear Required" mixes Trip Hop with Filmmusic and if you listen closely you will also witness some Pop, New Age and even R&B influences. Just like the first album, "No Fear Required" was completely produced in Martin's hometown Berlin and this time you can read the album as a direct response to the living in an urban environment which is dominated by concrete and noise. When the coverphoto for "silent mirror inside" was shot on Mount Manganui in New Zealand, the cover of the second album shows an impression that fits the prisoner-in-a-city-theme best - a street lighted by cars and no horizon ahead. Nevertheless there's "no fear required" as we still know from the no.1 track of his debut album: "Ocean is Near!" - and every metropolis has it's boundaries...
