31st May 2019 sees the next two releases from Blue Note's exciting Tone Poet series, Lou Donaldson's Mr Shing-a-Ling and Lee Morgan's Cornbread. These are vinyl reissues celebrating the legendary label's sonic voyagers, artists who forged their own paths to produce some truly original sounds. The collection was borne of Blue Note President Don Was's admiration for the exceptional audiophile re-releases issued by independent company Music Matters. Much attention to detail has been paid getting these right in every conceivable way, from the jacket graphics to the print quality; from Kevin Gray's superior vinyl mastering to the 180G pressings by Record Technology Inc. Consumers will not find superior versions of these LPs - they are audiophile vinyl products with high-gloss gatefold packaging and bonus images from the recording sessions. Please see below for details of the next two Tone Poets releases by alto sax great Lou Donaldson and trumpet legend Lee Morgan.

Highlights:

- An epic, all-star session recorded at the Van Gelder Studio on 18th September 1965

- The trumpet master's 15th album for Blue Note

- Featuring Herbie Hancock (piano), Hank Mobley (tenor), Jackie McLean (alto), Larry Ridley (bass) and Billy Higgins (drums)

- A potpourri of various styles including post-bop, soul-jazz and bossa-nova

- Includes four classic Morgan originals: the evergreen title track, 'Ceora', 'Our Man Higgins' and 'Most Like Lee', plus a cover of the standard 'Ill Wind'

- Captures all of these world-class players in superb form
