Estonian drama adapted from the novel by Andrus Kivirähk and written and directed by Rainer Sarnet. Set in pre-modern times, peasant girl Liina (Rea Lest) is besotted by fellow villager Hans (Jörgen Liik) but her advances are rebuked because of his love for the young German baroness (Jette Loona Hermanis). Liina's attempts at wooing Hans are dealt a further blow when her father arranges for her to be married to an old farmer.

Meanwhile, the villagers resort to performing pagan and Christian rituals in order to stave off the threat of plague.
