History of the great journeys and of the great travelers

The first traveler to introduce us to history in chronological order is Hannon, who was sent by the Senate of Carthage to colonize various territories on the western coasts of Africa. The account of this expedition was written in the Punic language, translated into Greek and known as Periplus of Hannon. In what era did this explorer live? Historians are not in agreement about this data, but the most probable version dates back to the year 505 before JC his exploration of the African coasts. Hannon sailed from Carthage with a fleet of sixty vessels of fifty oars each, carrying thirty thousand people and the provisions necessary for a long journey. Those emigrants, who can be called that way, had to populate the new cities that the Carthaginians proposed to found on the western coasts of Libya, that is, Africa.
