Synopsis: Strange events are happening near the Great Eyry, in the western part of the state of North Carolina. The US government sends its best investigator, John Strock, to uncover the mystery of the phenomenon. Jules Verne biography: He was born on February 8, 1828, in Nantes (France). In 1839 he tried to escape to India on board a ship, but was surprised by his father and had to promise that from now on he would only travel in his imagination. At twelve he began to write poetry. In 1848 he moved to Paris (France) to study law, shortly after he met the French writer Alexander Dumas and his son, who became his protectors. To survive, he for a long time he wrote unsuccessful plays and operettas while he was dedicated to researching different scientific disciplines to write a novel with that information. In 1863 he published "Five Weeks in a Balloon," his first novel. His success allowed him to sign a contract with the publisher for three works a year for twenty year
