The Celtic Twilight - A NEW ILLUSTRATED VERSION. William Butler Yeats, mainly known as a poet and Nobel award winner, was also an important exponent of Irish folklore. Yeats was deeply interested in the tales' mythic and magical roots. The Celtic Twilight is a work about the eerie world of fairies, ghosts, and spirits. "This handful of dreams," as the author wrote, was published at first in 1893, and its title refers to the pre-dawn hours, when the Druids performed their rituals. It includes many stories recounted to the poet by his friends, neighbors, and acquaintances, such as Lady Augusta Gregory. Yeats' faithful transcription of their stories includes his own visionary experiences, added to the storytellers' tales as a sincere commentary. T his edition includes both black and white and colored illustrations inspired to characters and tales recounted in the book. Illustrator: Fabiola Bonghi is an Italian painter and illustrator based in Italy, Rome. Her art is mainly inspired to mythology, folklore and to fantasy themes. Her artworks have a realistic style, weaved into a fantastic and inspirational atmosphere: she mainly uses watercolors, ink and colored pencils.
