In the stage play THE LEGACY, Mother, the main character, suffers a heart attack... the second heart attack in six months. Because she had an unsavory experience the last time she landed in the hospital, her adult children are forced to swear an oath by which she will never again suffer through another hospital stay. Dr. Blake attends to her needs at home. In her own bed at home, she hovers on the threshold between the real world and the hereafter. In this semi-conscious state, her mother's ghost--- the Grandmother--- accompanies her on her life's journey from childhood to adulthood.... What a journey it turns out to be. In MODERNITY, a play in three acts, Edith Waterbury is a lonely woman, longing for love, affection, and companioship. Henry Waterbury, her husband, is much too busy runnung his advertising firm, to satisfy her needs. With her husband at the office in New York City during the week, her son at Yale, and her daughter away at private school, her days tend to be long, and her nights prove to be even longer. How can anyone blame her for re-kindling the embers of an old love affair when CAL, an old flame, shows up at her place of residence in Boston ?
