Short Stories

Though I was writing on different things, it is the short stories that endeared me to many readers. Goes to prove everybody wants to live in an imaginary world, avoiding as much as possible reality. But stories based on reality, everyday occurrences they encounter attracted them most, made an impact. Which meant people liked reality but with an ending they could choose. As a matter of fact, when the ending wasn't as they expected, they screamed hoarse. But my stories became staple diet, breakfast for some. For me it became an obsession to spin a story a day. I gave myself a stiff target that I shall tell 100 stories, and fulfilled that challenge. They were published with a tall claim that these stories will touch you and they did strike a chord and got me accolades and brickbats in equal measure. Some comments and feedback were vitriolic, and many complementary. I am not a story teller, but realised around the 20th Story I could indeed spin a yarn. I started to experiment in Tamil and in Brahmin Tamil at that and that just about did the trick of gathering some diehard fans around me, mostly women readers. But when women were after these, will men be far behind? They too started to arrive in numbers. Some of the first to request this compilation were men.
