Worlds within Worlds
Isaac Asimov
Complete edition comprising volumes I, II, III. Isaac Asimov (1920-1992) was a Russian-American author and professor of biochemistry at Boston University. He was a very prolific writer of science fiction and popular science books, with a total of more than 500 volumes published. Asimov was also an outspoken atheist, humanist and rationalist and supported the use of nuclear energy for civil use. "Worlds within Worlds" is a clear and synthetic exposition of the history of nuclear energy, from the first fundamental discoveries on the structure of matter up to the widespread use of nuclear energy in the early '70s. The essay concludes with a discussion of new technologies like nuclear fusion and possibilities beyond nuclear energy, such as anti-matter.
