Pop Killer

'I get it now. They want humanity to consume in every single corner of the planet. I'm a cave hyena with a golden credit card chewing on Karl Lagerfeld's ankle bone after midnight. Expensive. Luxurious. Comfort food. Lovely.'
Pop Killer takes up arms against celebrity despotism and the maelstrom of mediocrity served up as party favours in the never-ending age of pop. By turns riddling and ferociously direct, oracular and of the utmost clarity, the texts presented here form the multifaceted manifesto of a highly explosive worldview and aesthetic. Fusing prose and poetry, fiction and autobiography, Hofstede creates a verbal fireworks to
shatter the sinister charade of the pop phenomenon and clear the air for the liberating dawning of 'Paleo Psycho Pop' - a mystical state that reconnects the modern imagination with nature and the creative power of the Paleolithic mind.
Hilarius Hofstede is a Dutch multimedia artist and author whose work explores tensions between nature and popular culture. His previous publications include the experimental prose text De Markies van Water and the mind-bending collection of techno aphorisms Microsoft Mon Amour. Hofstede is the initiator of the traveling group show Bison Caravan and - in collaboration with Patrick Healy - co-founder and editor of the underground journal Paleo Psycho Pop (1996-2020).
