Black Light is the tale of Jim, an over-imaginative university student, who begins to write two novels. His life leaves a lot to be desired - his father committed suicide and he does not relate to his step-father. His brother is intellectually disabled. The woman that he is in love with is repulsed by him. Jim reads excerpts from his novels aloud to his friends at the local pub. As the book progresses, Jim loses his grip on reality and imagines that characters from the novels come alive and enter into his version of the world. Will the characters from his books fade away or will they continue to haunt him?
