Sustainable Urban Mobility Services Systems: a Case Study of Kolkata

The impact of globalization was started in business and has extended its effects to all aspects of living. It is going beyond the normal boundaries of politics, economics and even geography and very much accepted as sociology to examine factors like fundamental process of social inequalities. Urban mobility is such kind of economic activity which reflects the impact of globalization. Sustainable consumption of urban mobility services is one of the challenging issues through out every world. The conspicuous over consumption of personal vehicles by the particular segments of urban residents indirectly creates complex problems for the survival of public mobility services in the cities. So to achieve the sustainable consumption and production scenario, it is required to define a networked pattern of mobility solutions in a systemic way, where every passenger must have the freedom to choose a combination of urban mobility activities according to their capabilities and preference which they have reasons to value within market economy. A case study was done at Kolkata in support of this research.
