Coriander (Coriandurum sativum L.)is an important seed spices in India and World too. Its seeds are World's oldest known spices. Its flat green leaves are commonly known as Cilantro; its small white or purple flower produce seeds (actually dried fruit) known as coriander. It is highly esteemed in Latin America and Asia, particularly in China, India and Thailand. Among the different seed spices coriander occupies a lion share portion about more than 50% of the area in India. India earned a tune of about 82.66 and 64.10 crores by exporting this spice during 2004-05 and 2005-06 respectively. Apart from whole coriander seed India also earn an appreciable amount by exporting coriander powder.
