The aim of this research is to investigate the optimization process parameters for Metal inert gas welding (MIG). This investigation presents the influence of welding parameters like welding current, welding voltage, welding speed and gas flow rate on weld bead geometry of MS 5986 Fe 410 carbon steel sheets during welding. The GMA welding parameters are the most important factors affecting the quality, productivity and cost of welding. A mixture of argon-carbon dioxide was employed for shielding purposes. Taguchi Technique is applied to plan the experiments. An Orthogonal array, signal to noise (S/N) ratio and analysis of variance (ANOVA) are employed to investigate the welding characteristics of MS 5986 Fe 410 carbon steel sheets & optimize the welding parameters. From the present study it was found that weld bead geometry plays an important role in determining the mechanical properties of a weld joint.
