This publication will first clarify what we meant by Social development and explore their impact on Academic competence. Then we will take a look at what research has to say about social development and academic competence in school going children, and what are the important factors which leads to good social development in children. The study highlights the social development and academic competence in rural and urban areas. In today's context the research field mainly concentrate on urban areas developmental pattern. This study reveals the rural children's capabilities and their social development compare to urban children. Even though rural children do not get proper facilities compare to urban children their social development is very good compare to urban ones. Due to busy schedule urban areas parents could not give full attention to their child's development, their social development is very poor, they will find it very difficult in adjusting with new environments. Even though their cognitive abilities are excellent but not good in social activities. This research made an attempt to explore the impact of social development and academic competence on school going children.
