Sports physiotherapy is an ever-expanding and changing field, but the primary goal remains the same as it was decades ago - to allow the injured athlete to return safely to participation and perform to the best of his or her ability. Water Polo is considered to be one of the toughest and most physically demanding sports. Wide varieties of injuries are seen in water polo players including the head and facial, dental, ears and eyes, direct injuries to the spine, low back pain, shoulder, elbow, wrist, groin enthesitis, knee and ankle injuries. However, the incidence of shoulder pain is amongst the commonest complaint in elite water polo players. This textbook combines the knowledge of bio-mechanical aspects of shoulder impingement in the water polo players using simple assessment technique. Emphasis is placed on relevant literature, methodology, and graphs in order to provide an easy reference to commonly seen shoulder problems and injuries in water-polo players.
