Plant Protection: an Integrated Approach
Dileep C.
Any single method on plant protection found to give lasting solution for the problem. Indescriminate use of pesticides create environment problems, bioamplification of the residues in human fat and resurgence of pest and result in development of pesticides tolerant/ resistant strains of the organism. The time tested cultural practises such as growing mixed crops and crop rotation , have been replaced by intensive farming. Changed agronomy , monocropping sequence of cropping have contributed to pest abundance. The need of the hour is to develop an innovative integrated method to tackle this situation. Integrated Approach on Plant Protection (IAPP) is the integrated and planned execution of different plant protection methods , strategies and tactics with sole objective of reducing crop loss from disease and pests with minimum ecological implication.
