Echoes of the Resistance

Our forefathers always told us: Never forget because to forget is the same as dying. We Wichí are an indigenous people who since the time of our ancestors have lived in part of what is known as the Gran Chaco. Its territory extends over a region that at present is divided among the neo nations of Argentina, Bolivia and Paraguay. Even today, five centuries after the invasion of the Europeans, this territory is not recognized. I believe that true patriots are those who care about protecting the land, health and life of people, and in this way become citizens of the world without any racial or prejudicial restrictions. The future will be better if we build it together. Audencio Zamora Leckott. Lecko Audiencio Zamora Corrales of the Wichí indigenous population was born in El Algaborral, Jwayuk, Salta, Argentina. He is a founding member, among other organizations, of the Indigenous Movement of Guayana, the Association of the Ye'kwana Entrepreneurs of Erebato, Venezuela's Indigenous "Kuyuwi" Tourism. An active collaborator with the Indigenous Federation of Bolivar State and the National Indian Council of Venezuela, the Confederation of Indigenous Peoples of Bolivia, and the Council of Wichí Organizations of the Bermejo Region of Salta, Argentina. Secretary General of the Indigenous Movement of Guayana, coordinator for the Orinoco Indigenous Newspaper, Technical Secretary of the Indigenous Development Fund of Venezuela, coordinator for the development of indigenous communities under the Development Foundation of Villmontes, advisor to the Captaincy Organization for the Indigenous Peoples of Tapiete and Weenhayek, Bolivia. Worker, craftsman, agriculturist, electrician at the Siderúrgica del Orinoco, Firestone plant supervisor in Bolivar, Venezuela. He has lived or visited communities of the indigenous populations in Argentina, Bolivia, Paraguay, Chile, Brazil, Colombia, Panama, Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela, the United States and Mexico. He is currently President of the Chaco Artisanal Foundation.
