The Nameless

In Rashfall, a last name is everything. A last name means you have a history, a family, a purpose; it means you can go to school, that you can have a job, and be considered a person. Shadow has no last name and she has been banned from everything! No job, no education and no future. In order to survive Shadow has learned to move through the night as an experienced thief, stealing what she can pawn and saving up money to leave Rashfall. She has high hopes of starting over in a place where names don't matter. Desperate to achieve her goal, Shadow accepts a job of stealing a very rare and powerful jewel in a neighboring city. She knew this would be the job that would help her accomplish her goal starting over, away from Rashfall. It was supposed to be a simple in and out job. She knew she could get in and out easily, however there was one thing she didn't count on and that was falling in love. Ryder si Definti is the only son to Leo si Definti, magistrate over the city of Demetrio in Rashfall. His family's main purpose is guard the Amber Jewel of Demetrio, a gemstone of power used to protect the country. Shadow knows Ryder is the key to the jewel heist; she needs to learn of his every move. Having no last name would cause attention so Shadow assumes the identity of Crystal Lux and sets out with a plan to make Ryder her long lost friend to gain all the information she can. There is only one problem, Ryder's father, Leo si Definiti, a detective who is suspicious of everyone. Upon meeting Shadow or should I say Crystal, the hairs on the back of his neck prickled. He knew something was not right, but what? Should Leo search her background and find out who she is and where she comes from? If he does, what will he find? How will all of this investigation affect Shadow's ability to steal this very rare jewel? Will she be able to after?
