I passionately love this dance form. I hope this book/course will open new doors to the world of dance and help you understand a little more. This dance beautiful, artistic and cultural. "Create Open Borders" means there are no borders in dance. All of us share one dance family and language. Let us work together to this end. "Keep the Culture in Arabic Dance". This means that this dance form is a culturally based dance form. As is Flamenco and Polynesian (both of which I have studied extensively). You need to learn about the culture of the people plus the history and roots of the dance. Open your eyes and ears to the beauty of it all. It is there for you to enjoy. Take classes on a regular basis from those who know and will share with you openly. I feel lucky to have had so many wonderful people involved in my dance career. Notably the late La Meri, the late Ibrahim Farrah, the Master Mahmoud Reda, Amani of Lebanon, Margo Kelfayan, Elena Lentini and Dolores Riskallah Ryad Matzen my dearest friend. There are others, but these are just a few that that have influenced my life. Thank you all for being my dance family. Let me not forget my dear husband Walid Assaf, that wonderful percussionist and partner. Morwenna Assaf
