This is a translation of Seki Juroji's 1897 illustrated book on sword fighting. Seki Juroji was born in 1823 and studied many different schools of fighting including Itto School and Genkai School. He wrote this book with the hope traditional Japanese sword fighting would be made part of the school physical fitness curriculum in elementary and junior high school. A Samurai's First Lessons in Sword Fighting was designed as a graded program to teach school children aged 6 14, traditional Japanese sword fighting. First time in English.
