My Fortunate Immigrant Life

Steve Danyluk was born in Germany at the end of WWII and spent the first five years of his life in a displaced persons camp. After his father died in one of the camps, he, his mother, grandmother, and siblings emigrated to the US via immigration processing in Bremerhaven. The next 15 years of his life were spent growing up in the Ukrainian section of the lower east side of Manhattan. His account of the improbable good fortune of assimilating into American culture is guaranteed to be an eye-opener for all Americans.

Steve's story shows why America is a place of unlimited potential for those immigrants who came here, worked hard, and benefited as a result. College, a PhD degree, college professor, and a wonderful family are the culmination of Steve's building and living the American dream.
