Who Do You See... When You See... Me?
Debbie Truncale
Author Debbie Truncale was inspired to write this book when her daughter Alyssa, who has special needs, received her first wheelchair at age three.
When Debbie pushed Alyssa around in a baby stroller, no special attention was paid to her sitting in that seat with wheels. Once she began to be pushed around in her wheelchair, it became apparent that this seat with wheels changed how others saw her. Nothing changed with Alyssa, only her seat with wheels.
It's just a seat with wheels.
Seats with wheels, like buses, cars, and bikes, help all of us get around each and every day!
It is Debbie's goal that with this book, everyone can learn to see the person, not just the wheelchair. It's just a seat with wheels!
So...
