Hurricanes and Secrets

David Andrews just turned thirteen on July 4th and is now a teenager. David and Louie Jackson are in the eighth grade, and this year is proving to be almost too much for them, first in school, and in everyday life. It's like a WOW year! First of all, a hurricane threatens to blow everyone away, but David and his mom go to a shelter where David shows his skills from his self-defense class. Next, David learns secrets about Louie that he didn't really want to hear. Then a Halloween dance at school, and David doesn't know how to dance. Thanksgiving dinner with Great Grandma Marge brings more secrets. Christmas vacation is the best of all where secrets reveal themselves and everyone lives happily ever after. Well, almost everyone.
One of my many jobs during my lifetime was Correctional Officer in the state of Florida for eleven years. I could probably write a book about each year I spent there, well, probably each day. Every day was different, and you never knew what you were walking into when you reported to work.
I have survived many hurricanes, including Charley, Ivan, and Jeanne. I lived in a single-wide mobile home in Florida and had to evacuate for hurricanes quite frequently. I finally got tired of it, so I sold my mobile home and moved into a brick apartment.
I have loved life, and I still do. I have travelled to Germany, Costa Rica, Panama, and Canada. Now I travel to interesting places in the United States, and there are many. I love travelling with my three daughters. We always laugh until tears are rolling down our faces. Just little nonsense things can set us off.
I especially love Christmas and what it stands for. I believe in keeping Christ in Christmas and in every day of our lives.
Life is good!
