The seemingly fictional tales of what LeRoy Buchholz endured are only matched by those of his resilience. Dan would never fully grasp the importance of the lessons LeRoy taught him during his time at College until some years later as he drives from Chicago to La Crosse, racing to make it to LeRoy's funeral in time. LeRoy was a Special Olympic bowler and bocce ball player. He mowed lawns for a living and did odd jobs throughout town with the help of his dear friend, Rob. When Dan arrives, he is given the rare opportunity to see how truly good people can be if we just stop for a moment, and genuinely look at one another with no veils.
