Trouble is afoot when both Littlewood and Khan notice-separately-that objects duplicated from the past are disappearing in chaotic fashion. After Edmund vanishes without a trace, Littlewood agrees to meet with Khan, who is panicked he'll be next. Meanwhile, former FBI agent Nevis plots to gain control of all time travel, even if he has to take people out to do it. Halley makes the decision to try and rescue Edmund, but Edmund's not leaving because his brother awaits trial for treason in the 1601 Essex rebellion against Elizabeth I.
