Coming Out: a Dark Comedy in Two Acts
J. T. Mcdaniel
First performed at the Abbey Theater in Dublin, Ohio, Coming Out is a two act dark comedy that touches on infidelity, religion, atheism, domestic abuse, and gay marriage. The father is an atheist philosophy professor, the elder son is pastor of a huge Dallas church and has his own evangelical television network, and the younger son has chosen his parents' 40th anniversary to announce that he's gay. As if that's not enough, the father's secretary is pregnant, and some uncomfortable things are revealed about the elder son's marriage in the second act. This is a full-size acting edition of the script, with pages printed on one side only and formatted correctly for the stage.
