OPAC (Old Persons Adventure Club) consists of four married couples. They call themselves the 'Ensemble'. They are a reading club. To celebrate their reading of Pickwick Papers they organise a trip to London to visit Charles Dickens' house in Doughty Street. Travelling by train each station presents then with a different outlook on life. In their younger days they did sterling work in science and technology. One of them is a knight of the realm. To those familiar with their different areas of expertise they are minor celebrities.
