The novel is set over a three year period. David, around whom the story is based, is a retired mining engineer who has embarked on journeys of discovery throughout West and North Africa. He is a decent and sensitive man with a generous spirit and a keen appreciation of different cultures, traditions and expectations of life. During the course of his travels in Mali he meets an unusual woman, a Tuareg lady who is also a medicine woman and traditional healer. They fall in love and this is their story. Earthshine relates to present times and events; and where true love and the loyalty of a lifelong friend set in place a determination to overcome the most difficult and dangerous situations.
