Frederick James Gould (19 December 1855 - 6 April 1938) was an English teacher, writer, and pioneer secular humanist. Collection of stories of ancient Romans skillfully adapted from Plutarch's Lives, with emphasis placed on the characters of the individuals portrayed. Excellent as an introduction to the biographies of Plutarch. Includes three black and white illustrations by Walter Crane
