The Unknown Life of Jesus Christ
Nicolas Notovitch
This 1894 book claims that during his unknown years, Jesus left Galilee for India and studied with Buddhists and Hindus there before returning to Judea. The author, Nikolas Notovitch's, a Crimean Jewish adventurer who claimed to be a Russian aristocrat, says that the book is based on a document he said he had seen at the Hemis Monastery while he stayed there. The book, a beautiful document none the less, has been the object of many studies, and while some consider it a hoax, some believe in the authenticity of the claims and the content of the book, which shows where did many of Jesus' beliefs come from, while at the same time portraits a Jesus who was already well on his way to his fundamental beliefs at a very young age.
