A Single Woman's Journey

Maggie Volz Dembowski's life as a single woman and mother is a tale of courage, persistence, and overcoming faith. Her description of her experiences is a magnificent encouragement to any reader. Instead of theory, this book demonstrates and models the achievement of excellence as she lived it. James R. Hoston, DMinPastor of Counseling (Retired) Shiloh Christian Ministries A Single Woman's Journey: Finding Joy after Divorce shares the life story of Maggie Volz Dembowski after she suddenly found herself single after the ending of her twenty-year marriage to her high-school sweetheart, the father of her five daughters. Sprinkled with humor and flavored with wisdom, this book offers insights for anyone who is divorced, widowed, or waiting for a spouse. Now a single veteran by choice after forty years, Maggie can attest to the answers and healing that God provided after emotional pain nearly destroyed her life. But the Good Shepherd intervened. Through every challenge, God carried Maggie from victim to victorious. She shares her journey through blood, sweat, and tears to restoration, recovery, health, and happiness. You, too, will find hope, encouragement, answers and joy, in the hardships as you journey to a new celebration of life, a life worth living. As a young girl, Maggie longed to become a missionary. Just two days before her sixtieth birthday, her dream came true-she was accepted with Wycliffe Bible Translators as a mission's family counselor. Prior to that she and her military husband had divorced and Maggie became a single parent. Following this she obtained her bachelor's and then master's degrees while employed for 20 years with city and state governments. She eventually lived in Papua New Guinea and the Philippines and journeyed globally during her thirteen-year tenure as a mission's counselor. Maggie is now a retired--National Certified Counselor, Licensed Professional Counselor, Registered Play Therapist, and a retired Mission's Family Counselor. She still enjoys singleness and continues to joyfully volunteer, now in her eightieth year of life.
