U. S. Navy helicopter pilot Bud Lammers was on the fast track to promotion when a botched raid in Vietnam tainted his career and threw his marriage into a tailspin. Now, a decade after the war, he and his men are on the verge of wrapping up a successful peacetime mission, or so they think.

Ferdinand and Imelda Marcos have entrenched themselves as President and First Lady of the Philippines. The charismatic couple has vowed to bring peace and prosperity to a country that's labored nearly four hundred years under the yoke of colonial rule.

But there's growing unrest on the archipelago as survivors of the infamous Huk Rebellion regroup to challenge the Marcos regime. Amid the stirrings of chaos, Filipino Muslims are demanding autonomy in the predominantly Christian country, and they're not afraid to get aggressive.

Caught in a crossfire of deadly forces, Lammers must face the ghosts of his wartime mistakes.
