White Sidewalks: Tales of Mavis Street - 1963

"... Life is just a stroll on a white sidewalk-

Every scene and sound a private mirror in time.

I have purchased it all with cupcakes and memorized prayers.

Time now to drink this soul elixir from this ancient cup.

I dared the ghosts here to come out and show themselves.

I dared them to show me their regretful shadows..."




The mind excursions that form this nostalgic quilt came into literary existence during the daunting times of Covid-19.




Please consider this work as just an "escape-poem" for the poet, and for the reader, from a world closed down...
