Simply Faith Hope & Love
Doris C. Clark
This book was written after one of Doris Clark's students in her Joy Class asked for a prayer book that she could use at home for her devotionals. The quest to find one that was appropriate proved to be an impossible task. The scriptures were too long and complicated with too many thoughts and ideas on each page. The print was too small and the words were too difficult to understand. She decided to write her own book designed for the needs of her students. SIMPLY FAITH HOPE & LOVE is the result. This book is for adults with intellectual disabilities, both readers and non-readers, as well as older adults with cognitive problems, and for young readers. It is written on a third grade level. It is a wonderful gift for a special friend. Doris C. Clark began her first Joy Class at First Presbyterian Church in Austin in 1989. She is an educator, writer and consultant for development of classes for adults with intellectual disabilities in churches throughout the country and as far away as The Ukraine. She lives with her son, Tim, who has Down Syndrome, in the DFW area of Texas. They are members of White's Chapel United Methodist Church in Southlake. Mrs. Clark has served on the boards of Mental Health/Mental Retardation of Texoma and on Evergreen Life Services Board of Directors and Foundation Board. She worked to implement the Shepherd Church program at Evergreen.
