A Special Pocket in My Heart is the true story of Sydney and her family, struggling with the death of Sydney's father. Although Sydney is only twenty months old, she is a very verbal toddler and is poignantly aware of her loss, and how it has affected her and her family. She was very close to her father and misses him terribly. Devastated and nearly frozen with grief at the beginning of the book, Sydney shares her journey with open honesty and acceptance, until she is finally able to once again reach for happiness and joy. This heartfelt book will explain death to children and how we must all learn to live our lives once again after a big loss. "I was motivated to write this book the day I was shopping for groceries with Sydney, and in the middle of the cereal aisle she screamed at me, "Where is my daddy !!!" A retired teacher, Shirley Renaud is a grandmother of four. Sydney is her granddaughter. Her son, Scott, passed away in 2006 at the age of 28. "With Scott's death came major shifts in our family, leading me to spend many, many hours with Sydney. I was with her when she did much of her questioning. Our grief was shared." The author lives in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Her next book is about a family of environmentally aware rabbits. Publisher's website: http: //sbpra.com/ShirleyRenaud
